These are genuine Frye boots, in an unusual style. They are traditional engineer boots, with the rounded toe and leather strap and buckle across the instep. They have a thin rubber sole and half-heel plate. The heels are 1" high and have a steer imprint (a Frye mark). A Frye imprint is also on the sole. The shafts are 14" high with a leather strap and buckle on the top. The shafts are unlined, and have a white "Frye" label on the inside of the flap where the top strap on the shaft is located on both boots. I bought them on an eBay auction since they were so unusual, and because I've always wanted a pair of tall engineer boots in brown. I estimate they were made in the mid 1980s.
