What's a wiki? And a “Boots Wiki” at that?
A wiki is is a website that allows the creation and editing of any number of interlinked web pages via a web browser. A wiki is essentially a database for creating, browsing, and searching through information. A defining characteristic of wiki technology is the ease with which pages can be created and updated. A single page in this “wiki” website is referred to as a “wiki page,” while the entire collection of pages, which are interconnected by hyperlinks, is “the wiki.”
This wiki is powered by wiki software called DokuWiki. It is meant to provide for collaborative information sharing. This wiki exists to serve a specific purpose, which is to share information about boots.
I created this wiki for two primary reasons: to enable interactive sharing of information, as well as to migrate to an interactive and collaborative web-based capability.
No Marketing or Promotion
This wiki shall not be used for marketing, promotion, or sales purposes by vendors of products or services. This site is vendor-neutral. The owner of this Wiki does not accept advertising, payment for advertising, or engage in ad-share/revenue generation ventures such as Google's “AdSense.”
No Fees – No Cookies
This site is free to viewers and no information from any viewer is recorded or saved in a database. Because no visitor information is saved, no information is shared for any purposes whatsoever.
Links to third-party websites may be made from this wiki if more information is available on other legitimate websites. When such links are made, it will be clear that the visitor will be leaving this wiki site and going elsewhere. All links are made at the discretion and approval of the Wiki Owner, and are only made if it will enhance the visitor's knowledge or provide more information to benefit the visitor – not to promote sales of any particular product or services.
Enjoy, and welcome to my “Boots Wiki!”
