This is a plain black Muir Cap that I have owned since the early 1980s and found again in 2009 in a box in the back of my leather gear closet.
It is an old-style genuine black leather cap, with a solid black shiny peak, silver mylar band across the front brim, and plain black buttons. It is peaked such that you wear it low over the brow -- and wearing it that way gives a mysterious, old-school "Leatherman's Look." The Muir Cap that I have worn for years has been adorned with a metal chain and eagle badge on the front. I added a nickel chain across the front of this cap. The color of the chain indicates that I am purely a Top, and don't switch.

The most frequently asked question I have received is where to find a Muir Cap like this. As I said above, the store where I bought this cap is no longer in business. Nowadays you will only see new "Muir Style" (knock-off) caps for sale at various leather events. However, someone sent me an email and told me that the manufacturer, Muir Cap & Regalia, Ltd., is still in business and can make a hat like this in about eight weeks. I don't know how much they would charge for it. This is a link to their official website.
