Chippewa Boots is one of the lines owned by Justin Brands (which also own Justin, Nocona, and Tony Lama cowboy boots.) I bought these Chippewa Logger Boots, style number 25408, on sale in July, 2012. Buying cold-weather boots in the off season saved me US$50. (I also have another pair of these boots, style 25415 in light tan ("Bay Apache").
These boots are 9-inches high and have a cushioned ankle collar for comfort. These "super loggers" are waterproof, so they are useful in rotten weather and muddy conditions (see below).
Insulated with Thinsulate, they provide warmth and protection in snow. The boots lace up (including 4 speed lace hooks toward the top) and have a US Flag emblem in the lace at the toe. The color is dark brown (but is not what they call it on the company website). The leather is easily scuffed and scratched, but the scuffing is normal and adds character to the boot without harming the boot's integrity.
These boots have a black #1286 Tacoma Logger sole, which has a solid tread and big lugs. Unfortunately, the lugs cake up easily with dirt and mud, so they require frequent cleaning.

These boots work great in muddy conditions. Keep my feet dry and can take a lot of abuse!
